Jonathan Taylor Injury: Colts RB Suffers Ankle Sprain vs. Vikings

Update: Taylor reportedly left the locker room in a walking boot. While walking boots can be used as a precaution, he has little chance of returning next week against the Chargers. The Colts are outside the playoff picture and Taylor has been plagued by right ankle issues a majority of the season.

In the first quarter versus the Minnesota Vikings, Jonathan Taylor reaggravated his right ankle sprain after making his first catch of the game.

The injury required him to be taken to the locker room. He was ruled out with the Colts holding a 17-0 lead in the second quarter.

By video, the injury to Taylor’s ankle didn’t look severe, but it is to the same ankle he injured earlier this season, according to the Pro Football Docs.

Taylor initially sprained his ankle in Week 4 and missed two weeks. Then he re-aggravated the ankle in Week 8 and missed one game.

Based on Taylor’s previous aggravations, his status for next week is likely in doubt. Especially with the Colts on the outside of the playoff picture.

Zack Miss and Deon Jackson will see increased usage with Taylor out.

After leading the NFL in rushing last season, Taylor is considered to be having a down year. He’s been battling a coaching change and an ankle injury.

Taylor has rushed the ball 192 times for 862 yards and four touchdowns. Even with all the games missed, he still ranks 10th in yards.
