Browns Start Season With Health Questions At One of the Tackle Spots

Jack Conklin - SIC Score 66, Jedrick Wills - SIC Score 95

The Cleveland Browns have two very productive offensive tackles, but one is much healthier entering the season than than other.

Right tackle Jack Conklin is entering his seventh season and has a long list of past injuries. Most recently, he suffered a ruptured right patella tendon that caused him collapse while trying to walk off the field.

The Browns medical staff did not make the injury any worse by allowing him to try and walk under his own power to the sidelines.  This is a major injury, and our team of Pro Football Docs believe Conklin is iffy to start Week 1. It is a 9-12 month recovery and he suffered the injury in late November of last year.

The injury limited him to only 7 games in 2021, which was the fewest of his career after making second All-Pro team of career in 2020.

He torn his left knee’s ACL in 2018 and also a had left knee sprain right before the tear, but those injuries should not affect him going forward. Because he’s a strong candidate to start the on PUP, he enters the season with an SIC score of 66.

Better news for the Browns, their LT is just fine. Jedrick Wills Jr. enters his third season with a SIC Health Score of a 95. He suffered an ankle injury last season.

The lingering ankle injury didn’t cause him to miss time, but he did play in only 77% of snaps while nursing the injury. Willis struggled his first two season but the Browns coach said the LT came into OTA’s in great shape and expects big things in 2022.

The Browns offense is still in flux with everyone waiting to see how long QB Deshaun Watson will be suspended for and a new WR core.

The offensive line might be in flux to start the year as well, which should be noted for all fantasy players drafting Browns offensive weapons like RBs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt along with WR Amari Cooper.
