Talanoa Hufanga Injury: 49ers Safety Leaves After Hit to Head

Update: Hufanga returned to the game.

San Francisco 49ers starting safety Talanoa Hufanga exited in the second quarter after taking contact to his head on a tackle.

Hufanga looked woozy on the field and went straight to the medical tent for evaluation. Tarvarius Moore has entered at strong safety.

The young safety was placed in concussion protocol this week after reportedly experiencing concussion symptoms on Monday.

He was checked for concussion in the Week 6 game against the Falcons, but passed the concussion evaluation and played 49 snaps.

Any player who suffers a concussion is susceptible to further concussions, according to the Pro Football Docs. If his second concussion is confirmed, Hufanga would likely be out extended time.

The 49ers face the Rams in Week 8.
