Rockies Injury Report: Kris Bryant Returns To IL With Back Injury

Kris Bryant, the Rockies' big free agent signing of the summer, was placed on the 10-day IL Wednesday with his lingering back injury.

Kris Bryant Injury Update

As detailed Tuesday, Bryant has been dealing with a lower back strain since late April.

He returned for two games last weekend, then was scratched from Monday's lineup with back soreness.

The 30-year-old received a cortisone injection in his back on May 9, but clearly that was not enough to fix Bryant's back issues in the short term.

Bryant's return timeline remains murky, but he will likely require another rehab stint.

“We aren’t where we want to be right now, and that’s frustrating, but sometimes it happens," Bryant said about his recent setback.

Ryan McMahon will remain as the starter at third until Bryant can return. McMahon is hitting .248 with 4  home runs and 21 RBIs in 41 games.
