NFL Week 2 brings another important group of injuries for fantasy football managers to monitor, with Nico Collins, Ladd McConkey, Zay Flowers, Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow and TreVeyon Henderson among the key players dealing with injury questions.
Here are the latest injury updates, practice statuses and Week 2 outlooks for the top fantasy football players dealing with injuries.
Nico Collins, Texans WR — Hamstring
Collins was diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring injury suffered during Wednesday’s practice and did not practice Thursday. His status remains uncertain for Week 2 against the Bengals.
Pro Football Doc expects Collins to be ruled out for Week 2, noting that even a mild hamstring strain can worsen if played through.
Ladd McConkey, Chargers WR — Ribs
McConkey did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said McConkey is “working diligently in his rehab” and that the team will see how the week unfolds ahead of Week 2 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Reports say he is unlikely to play, but Pro Football Doc suggests he may be able to with a rib/intercostal nerve block injection.
Zay Flowers, Ravens WR — Hamstring
Flowers did not practice Wednesday as he continues to deal with the hamstring injury he aggravated in Week 1. Ravens head coach Jesse Minter considers Flowers day-to-day ahead of Week 2 against the New Orleans Saints.
Pro Football Doc said he would not be surprised if Flowers misses time and cautioned that returning too soon could increase the risk of another aggravation that could lead to a longer absence.
Kyler Murray, Vikings QB — Concussion
Murray suffered a concussion during Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers and entered the NFL concussion protocol.
Murray appeared to lose consciousness and displayed posturing after the hit, but Pro Football Doc said those signs do not necessarily indicate the severity of a concussion or determine the length of recovery.
Murray progressed enough to participate on a limited basis in Wednesday's practice and Thursday. His return to practice is an encouraging step, but he must complete the NFL concussion protocol and receive clearance before he can play Week 2 against the Chicago Bears.
Joe Burrow, Bengals QB — Back
Burrow is dealing with back tightness that he described as normal postgame soreness. The Bengals quarterback said Wednesday that he expects to play Week 2 against the Houston Texans.
“I feel good. Some normal game day soreness, that's for sure. But I'll be all right,” Burrow said.
Burrow was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday due to back tightness.
TreVeyon Henderson, Patriots RB — Ankle
Henderson missed Week 1 because of the ankle injury he suffered on Aug. 24.
The Patriots running back returned as a full participant in Wednesday's practice, a significant step toward making his season debut in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
