The Boston Red Sox placed ace left-hander Garrett Crochet on the 15-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation on Wednesday, making him eligible to return in mid-May if his recovery stays on track.
Crochet told reporters he is “pretty confident” he will return as soon as he is eligible to come off the injured list. He also said he began feeling fatigue in his shoulder Saturday during six scoreless innings in Baltimore.
Crochet is 3-3 this season with a 6.30 ERA. In March 2025, the Red Sox signed him to a six-year, $170 million contract. He went 18-5 with a 2.59 ERA last season, finishing as the runner-up for the AL Cy Young Award.
At the time of the move, the Red Sox had the second-worst record in the American League and were eight games back in the AL East.
