Here are the quarterbacks returning from injuries this season. Use the SIC Health Scores and insights to inform your plays for fantasy football drafts and placing NFL Futures bets.
Aaron Rodgers tore his left Achilles just four plays into his Jets tenure. Pro Football Docs expect him to be fully ready for training camp with no restrictions. He did not participate in team minicamp, which head coach Robert Saleh explicitly deemed an "unexcused absence." There is no concern over the blister scare he dealt with during OTA’s.
Anthony Richardson has been dealing with shoulder soreness during offseason workouts and OTAs. He underwent season-ending shoulder surgery after suffering a severe AC joint sprain. Our panel of Pro Football Docs maintains that Richardson will be fine for the beginning of training camp and the season. The current shoulder soreness is unrelated to his AC joint injury, stemming instead from throwing a football and the culmination of offseason activities after months of inactivity.
Suffered two significant injuries last season. After a hard hit on a sack he sustained a neck hyperextension and was evaluated for a concussion. He would miss three games before suffering a torn ACL in his return game that would end his season. He is ready for the start of training camp and will not be on the Giants initial PUP list.
Deshaun Watson has yet to regain the form he displayed during his height in Houston. Last season, he dealt with various shoulder ailments that ultimately ended with a glenoid fracture in his shoulder. He has yet to eclipse 1,200 yards passing since his time in Houston.
Joe Burrow started last season with a strained calf and never really got a good start from there. He then suffered a torn wrist ligament in Week 11. Burrow has been cleared for all activities that do not involve contact and has even taken piano lessons to aid in his wrist recovery. With Burrow’s innovative rehab approach and a focused offseason, there’s optimism for a strong comeback.
Herbert's season ended last year in Week 13 due to a fractured right index finger, but the injury was not deemed a long-term concern. The Oregon Ducks product was solid as the starter for the Chargers, throwing 20 touchdown passes in 13 games. Herbert is expected to be fully healthy to begin training camp.
Cousins suffered a tear in his right Achilles tendon in Week 8 while playing for the Minnesota Vikings, ending his season prematurely. This offseason, free agency led him to sign with the Atlanta Falcons signing a massive 4-year $180 million deal. Cousins is currently on track in his recovery and aims to be ready to play by Week 1.
