White Sox Injury Report: Eloy Jiménez Expected To Return Early Next Week

The struggling White Sox hope to have star outfielder Eloy Jiménez back in the lineup sometime during their six-game homstand next week as he continues to progress during his Triple-A rehab assignment.

Eloy Jiménez Injury Update

MLB.com's Julie Kreuz reported that Jiménez could be back anytime between June 7 and June 12.

Jiménez is batting .273 in three appearances for the Charlotte Knights. He felt some leg discomfort in his first game last week, but returned on June 1 and has played DH two consecutive days.

The 25-year-old suffered a torn right hamstring running out a groundball on April 23 and had to be carted off the field. He underwent surgery on April 27, an unusual move to repair a hamstring injury.

A return in six weeks would be impressive and just as unusual, as the Docs anticipated a near three-month absence before a mid-summer comeback.

He was never transferred to the 60-day IL after he was placed on the 10-day on April 24.

Jiménez will likely return as a DH while he re-conditions and strengthens his injured left leg. The White Sox are still wont to see the dynamic outfielder play in the field during his rehab assignment before bringing him back up to the majors.

Before the injury, Jiménez was batting .222 with one home run in only 11 games.

His return will hopefully bring more stability to a White Sox team that is now without Tim Anderson for up to multiple months, is still waiting on the return of veteran ace Lance Lynn and third baseman Yoan Moncada, and just lost right-hander Vince Velasquez for at least 15 days with a left groin strain.
