Twins, Carlos Correa Get Positive News on Finger Injury

Twins star shortstop Carlos Correa will not require a trip to the 10-day IL for his injured finger, but No. 1 prospect Royce Lewis will get another start at shortstop on Saturday.

Carlos Correa Injury Update

A CT scan on Friday revealed that Carlos Correa does not have a fracture in his injured middle finger and he is reportedly considered “day-to-day” while he recovers from bruising and inflammation.

This was the best possible scenario for Correa and the Twins. The Pro Baseball Docs noted yesterday that his need for a CT scan was a positive sign that he wasn't dealing with a long-term finger injury.

If a fracture requires a CT scan to be revealed, it is either non-displaced or non-existent.

Depending on swelling and his level of pain tolerance, Correa could rejoin the lineup as early as Sunday. Although the Pro Baseball Docs expect him to serve as designated hitter rather than returning to the field right away.

The 27-year-old was injured on this pitch in Thursday night's game against the Orioles.

Injury Impact on Twins

Lewis, the highly regarded shortstop prospect, collected his first major league hit Friday night and will likely stay with the club for an extended stretch. Depth infielder Luis Arraez was placed on the 10-day IL after testing positive for COVID-19.

That opens up a role for Lewis to play the field while Correa fully recovers from his bruised finger.

Twins World Series Odds

The Twins, 16-11, are +4000 to win the World Series and +140 to win the AL Central, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
