Kansas City veteran catcher Salvador Perez was activated from IL today and is expected to serve as designated hitter against the Twins.

The five-time Gold Glove winner has been on IL since suffering a left thumb sprain on May 17.
Rookie catcher MJ Melendez has filled in with Perez out. Melendez is hitting .246 with 4 home runs and 8 RBIs in 20 games.
Perez has struggled early in the season. He's hitting .206 with 6 home runs and 16 RBIs in 34 games this year.
He finished last season with 48 home runs and 121 RBIs while hitting .273.
