Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.

The injury marks Acuña's second stint on the injured list this season due to a left hamstring issue. He previously missed approximately two weeks in May after suffering a Grade 1 strain in the same hamstring.

Acuña was injured during the fourth inning of Tuesday's game against the Chicago White Sox. While attempting to beat out a throw to first base, he appeared to take an awkward stride and immediately came up limping. Acuña left the game shortly afterward.

Following the game, Acuña expressed optimism that the injury may not be as severe as some of the injuries he has dealt with in the past.

"I'm disappointed, man," Acuña said. "This one isn't as bad. I don't feel any pain, I just feel a little bit tight."

Before landing on the injured list, Acuña was batting .254 with seven home runs, 15 stolen bases and a .798 OPS in 52 games.

Pro Football Doc Analysis

The biggest concern is not necessarily the severity of the current injury but the fact that it involves the same hamstring that already required an injured-list stint earlier this season.

Recurring hamstring injuries can be difficult to manage because players often return once symptoms improve, but underlying tightness, weakness, or fatigue can increase the risk of re-aggravation. Acuña's comments that he feels "tightness" rather than significant pain could be encouraging, but additional evaluation will determine whether this is another minor strain or a more significant setback.

Given Acuña's explosive playing style, hamstring health is especially important. Sprinting, base stealing and sudden acceleration place significant stress on the muscle and increase the risk of recurrence if a player returns before fully regaining strength and flexibility.

Ronald Acuña Jr. Injury History

2021: Torn right ACL, appeared in 82 games.

2022: Missed the start of the season while recovering from ACL surgery, appeared in 119 games.

2023: Won the National League MVP Award and missed only three games all season.

2024: Torn left ACL, appeared in 49 games.

Current Outlook

The Braves have not yet announced a timetable for Acuña's return.

Because this is a recurrence of the same left hamstring injury that sidelined him earlier this season, Atlanta will likely proceed cautiously before clearing him to return to game action.

As of Wednesday, the Braves held the best record in all of MLB.
