Rays Injury Report: Manuel Margot Heads To IL With Hamstring Strain

The Rays placed outfielder Manuel Margot on the 10-day IL on Sunday after he aggravated a right hamstring injury during their weekend series against the Blue Jays.

Manuel Margot Injury Update

Margot missed two games after initially suffering the strain running the bases on May 9.

He returned to the lineup on May 13 and played DH for two games before appearing to re-injure the hamstring on a base hit on Saturday. He lined a single and was seen grimacing after reaching first before being replaced on the bases by Kevin Kiermaier.

Tampa Bay has not detailed the severity of the strain, but Margot said through an interpreter that its already doing better and he anticipates the time on the IL will allow it to fully heal.

The 27-year-old is batting .347 this season with three home runs, five stolen bases, and a team-high 21 RBI.

The Rays are likely to shuffle around their outfield to account for the loss of their rightfielder, with Harold Ramirez and Brett Phillips likely seeing the largest increase in plate appearances.

Ramirez is batting .296 with four doubles, nine runs, and eight RBI in 26 games.
