Padres Injury Report: Blake Snell Making Return to Mound Against Phillies

A day after Mike Clevinger and young lefty Mackenzie Gore spun a gem against the Phillies, the Padres will add another key starter to the rotation.

Blake Snell Injury Update

The former Rays left hander was scratched right before his season debut with left adductor tightness, the same issue that kept him the final two weeks of last season.

Snell has now missed more than a month with the adductor tightness and made his most recent rehab start in Triple-A El Paso, throwing five innings of one-run ball.

Manager Bob Melvin told reporters he plans to have Nick Martinez follow Snell, whenever he reaches his pitch count limit. Snell worked up to 70-75 pitches during his last rehab start.

The 29-year-old finished 7-6 with a 4.20 ERA and 170 strikeouts in 27 starts last season for the Padres, his first in San Diego.

Padres World Series Odds

San Diego is at +1800 to win the World Series and +350 to win the NL West, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. The Padres are 23-13, one game back from the NL West-leading Dodgers.
