As we wrap up Week 16 tonight with a Monday Night Football and look towards Week 17 of the 2024 NFL season, several teams are struggling with key injuries that will impact their playoff hopes. In addition this week we saw several injuries that impact key Fantasy Football players as we approach the Fantasy Football finale!
At SICscore.com, we provide expert insights from Dr. David Chao, MD (@ProFootballDoc) and other top sports doctors to help fans and analysts understand the impact of these injuries on the player and team.
On Jalen Hurts at this moment, we put the likelihood of him playing Week 17 vs the Cowboys at 50/50, the Eagles have a playoff position locked up while the Cowboys have been eliminated from playoff contention, it would be wise for the Eagles to rest Hurts rather than risk him being out for longer if he were to sustain a second concussion
See our in-game analysis here.
Tests on Tank Dell revealed a dislocated knee, a torn ACL, among other likely knee damage sustained when he was hit by a teammate on a touchdown catch, given the time of year, unlikely to be ready for the start of next season, if not will miss 2025 all together.
See our analysis here.
George Pickens will make his return from a Grade 2 hamstring strain this Wednesday, Christmas Day Week 17 against the Chiefs.
Drake London suffered a hamstring strain in the fourth quarter of the Week 16 game against the Giants, unlikely to return and Week 17 will be in question.
James Conner by video, we believe he sustained a bone bruise during a hyperextension, no ACL or MCL injuries, with the Cardinals out of playoff contention, we believe his season will be over to aid in recovery. See our in-game analysis here.
Kenneth Walker suffered a minor high ankle injury and will need imaging to determine the severity. Walker had just returned from missing two games due to a calf injury and will likely miss the next game Thursday Night against the Bears.
Justice Hill sustained a concussion during Saturday's game and on a 4-day cycle, he will in all likelihood not be cleared in time to play on Christmas Day vs the Texans.
On a 4-day cycle, we believe Chris Jones will miss the Christmas Day game with a calf injury as the Chiefs already have playoffs locked up in their pursuit of a threepeat.
