Nationals Injury Report: Juan Soto Returning From Calf Injury Wednesday
2 min read • July 06, 2022
Superstar rightfielder Juan Soto is batting second for the Nationals on Wednesday night after missing two games with a left calf injury.
Juan Soto Injury Update
The 23-year-old suffered the apparent calf strain throwing a double to the infield from deep in right field on Sunday afternoon.
Soto said that he chose to come out of the game the next inning after he continued to feel tightness in his calf and behind his left knee.
He will likely play DH in the short-term to avoid aggravating the injury playing in the field again, especially as veteran Nelson Cruz battles a stomach illness.
Despite having a down year by his other-worldly standards, Soto has been exceptionally durable. The perennial silver slugger has an .833 OPS and 2.4 WAR with 15 home runs, 16 doubles, and 46 runs in 80 games.
Since making his MLB debut on May 20, 2018, Soto has played in 544 of the 588 potential games.
