MLB

The MLB season is in full swing, but injuries are taking a toll on several top players across the league. From key pitchers rehabbing to everyday starters managing soreness and strains, here's the latest on notable injury updates as we approach the playoffs.

Angels: Jo Adell & Kevin Pillar

Jo Adell’s season is likely over after suffering a left oblique strain. Kevin Pillar is also on the IL with a left thumb strain.

Astros: Mauricio Dubón

Mauricio Dubón is day-to-day with a jammed left thumb. He tested the injury before Saturday’s game but was held out due to continued soreness.

Blue Jays: Bo Bichette & Jordan Romano

Bo Bichette is nearing a return, set to begin a rehab assignment soon, while Jordan Romano’s season is over after undergoing right elbow surgery.

Braves: Whit Merrifield

Whit Merrifield fractured his left foot but may return sooner than expected after consulting with a specialist.

Cardinals: Lance Lynn

Lance Lynn will make his return from the IL on Wednesday, following time off due to right knee discomfort.

Cubs: Justin Steele

Justin Steele has resumed playing catch after dealing with left flexor tendinitis, a positive sign for the Cubs’ rotation.

Dodgers: Teoscar Hernández & Gavin Stone

Teoscar Hernández suffered a left foot contusion but is avoiding an IL stint after MRI and CT scans returned negative. He hopes to be back as early as Monday. Gavin Stone, meanwhile, is on the 15-day IL with right shoulder inflammation and will be shut down from throwing for at least 10 days.

Giants: Kyle Harrison, Robbie Ray & Jordan Hicks

Kyle Harrison is on the IL with left shoulder inflammation. Robbie Ray is building up innings in simulated games, while Jordan Hicks is back on the mound and making progress.

Mariners: Luis Castillo & Victor Robles

Luis Castillo left Sunday's game with a left hamstring strain, forcing him out in the fourth inning. His status is uncertain, but the Mariners will monitor him closely. Victor Robles, dealing with left elbow soreness after three hit-by-pitches, has missed consecutive games. His return timeline remains unclear.

Mets: Jeff McNeil & Kodai Senga

Jeff McNeil is sidelined for the rest of the regular season with a right wrist fracture. Kodai Senga continues to work back from a high-grade left calf strain, and the Mets are considering using him in a relief role to expedite his return.

Nationals: Trevor Williams

Trevor Williams is eyeing a rehab assignment, likely starting with Double-A Harrisburg, as he recovers from a right flexor muscle strain.

Orioles: Ryan Mountcastle & Others

Ryan Mountcastle is making progress from a left wrist sprain, while Heston Kjerstad is on a Minor League rehab assignment after clearing concussion protocols. Ramón Urías is off crutches as he recovers from a right ankle sprain.

Padres: Jackson Merrill & Ha-Seong Kim

Jackson Merrill avoided serious injury after fouling a ball off his left knee, with X-rays coming back negative. He returned to the lineup Sunday. Ha-Seong Kim is progressing from right shoulder inflammation and is taking batting practice and throwing, though not yet at full strength.

Phillies: Alec Bohm, J.T. Realmuto & Edmundo Sosa

Alec Bohm is on the injured list (IL) with a left hand strain after missing six straight games. J.T. Realmuto, who suffered a left knee contusion after fouling a ball off his leg, is listed as day-to-day. Edmundo Sosa also hit the IL with back spasms, adding to the Phillies’ injury woes.

Pirates: Henry Davis

Henry Davis has been placed on the IL with left hand inflammation. The young catcher is expected to miss some time as the Pirates carefully manage his return.

Rangers: Jacob deGrom & Max Scherzer Eye Return

Jacob deGrom, recovering from Tommy John surgery, looked sharp in a rehab start for Double-A Frisco. He threw four scoreless innings with five strikeouts, signaling that he may be close to rejoining the Rangers. Max Scherzer also impressed in his Triple-A outing, tossing four hitless innings as he works his way back from right shoulder fatigue. Both are hopeful to rejoin the team next week.

Rays: Brandon Lowe & Jeffrey Springs

Brandon Lowe is out with right middle finger inflammation, while Jeffrey Springs has been sidelined with left elbow fatigue.

Reds: Jonathan India, Hunter Greene & More

Jonathan India exited Sunday's game with left elbow discomfort. Hunter Greene is progressing after his right elbow soreness and threw his first bullpen session. Meanwhile, Nick Lodolo is waiting on medical clearance to begin throwing again after dealing with a left middle finger sprain.

Rockies: Brenton Doyle, Kyle Freeland & Antonio Senzatela

Brenton Doyle is nursing left hand pain from a diving catch and was held out of Sunday’s lineup. Kyle Freeland, dealing with a blister, will make his next start as scheduled. Antonio Senzatela, rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, is nearing a return after his next rehab outing.

Royals: Michael Lorenzen

Michael Lorenzen is on track to return soon after throwing a successful bullpen session following a left hamstring strain.

Tigers: Reese Olson

Reese Olson began his rehab assignment, throwing two scoreless innings as he works his way back from a right shoulder strain.

Twins: Byron Buxton

Byron Buxton’s return is delayed as he continues to deal with right hip inflammation, a recurring issue that sidelined him during his rehab assignment.

These injury updates will continue to be crucial as teams navigate the final stretch of the MLB season. Stay tuned to SicScore.com for the latest updates on player injuries and their impacts on team performance.
