As MLB approaches midseason, injuries remain critical storylines. Here’s the latest comprehensive update sorted alphabetically by league and team.

American League

Baltimore Orioles

  • Kyle Bradish (Tommy John): Started facing live hitters on June 29.

  • Zach Eflin (back tightness): Likely headed to IL after leaving June 28 start.

  • Grayson Rodriguez (elbow/lat inflammation): Threw bullpen session June 27.

  • Adley Rutschman (left oblique): Could return after All-Star break; resumed throwing.

  • Tyler O'Neill (shoulder impingement): Homered during Double-A rehab on June 29.

  • Jordan Westburg (sprained finger): Resumed swinging bat and playing catch on June 29.

Boston Red Sox

  • Alex Bregman (quad strain): Took swings and resumed fielding activities as of June 28.

  • Jordan Hicks (toe inflammation): Likely activation vs. Reds on June 30.

  • Reese Olson (finger inflammation): Potential July 1 return following bullpen session.

Houston Astros

  • Yordan Alvarez (hand fracture): Recovering from a right-hand fracture, inflammation causing pain has slowed his progress and he will continue to be evaluated before a return timeline is available.


  • Chas McCormick (left oblique): Scheduled for live at-bats June 29 in Florida..

  • Jeremy Peña (left ribcage fracture): Added to the 10-day IL after he missed a second straight game June 29 after negative X-rays but further scans revealed the fracture, expect it to be longer than a minimum stay on the IL.

Kansas City Royals

  • Hunter Harvey (teres major strain): Scheduled mound session June 29.

  • Alec Marsh (shoulder impingement): Shut down for two weeks; rehab paused.

Los Angeles Angels

  • Yoán Moncada (knee inflammation): Began Arizona Complex League rehab June 29.

  • Jorge Soler (back inflammation): Nearing return as of June 28.

Minnesota Twins

  • Royce Lewis (hamstring strain): Played seven innings June 29; likely activated Tuesday.

New York Yankees

  • Clarke Schmidt (forearm): Added to the 15-day IL after he was removed from the July 3 start due to right forearm tightness, will have an MRI to determine the injury and likely to miss more than the minimum IL stint.

  • Luis Gil (lat strain): Next live BP session scheduled between June 30-July 6.

Tampa Bay Rays

  • Shane McClanahan (triceps nerve irritation): Scheduled full-intensity bullpen July 1.

  • Ha-Seong Kim (calf): Will miss the July 5 game after experiencing a calf issue on July 4.

Texas Rangers

  • Tyler Mahle (shoulder): Added to the 60-day IL after last starting on June 10, diagnosed with a right rotator cuff strain and will not return until at least mid-August.

  • Wyatt Langford (left oblique strain): Placed on 10-day IL retroactive June 24.

Toronto Blue Jays

  • Andres Gimenez (ankle): Jammed his ankle on July 2 and appeared to aggravate the injury on July 4, will have an MRI and possible IL stint.

  • Bo Bichette (knee): Currently day-to-day with a knee concern after stepping on a baseball in the June 30 pregame warmup, expected to return shortly.

  • Bowden Francis (shoulder impingement): Resumed throwing after cortisone shot.

  • Alek Manoah (UCL surgery): Scheduled live BP July 1; timetable pending.

  • Anthony Santander (shoulder inflammation): Hasn't resumed swinging yet.

  • Daulton Varsho (hamstring strain): Resuming base running activities soon.

National League

Atlanta Braves

  • Spencer Schwellenbach (elbow): Added to the 15-day injured list with a fractured right elbow after he had soreness following his last start against the Phillies. He will miss at least a month and unlikely to return this season.

  • Daysbel Hernández (forearm inflammation): Began Triple-A rehab June 29.

Arizona Diamondbacks

  • Corbin Carroll (left hand) began rehab assignment on July 3 as he recovers from a chip fracture in his left hand, may be able to return in the coming days.

Chicago Cubs

  • Jameson Taillon (calf): Added to the 15-day injured list with a right calf strain that is likely to cause him to miss at least a month.

Cincinnati Reds

  • Graham Ashcraft (groin strain): Bullpen June 29; simulated game likely July 2.

  • Jake Fraley (shoulder labrum tear): Received cortisone shot to continue playing.

  • Hunter Greene (groin strain): Scheduled bullpen July 2 in Boston.

Colorado Rockies

  • Hunter Goodman (hamstring): Sustained a hamstring strain in late June, expected to be placed on the 10-day IL.

Los Angeles Dodgers

  • Michael King (right shoulder/long thoracic nerve injury): Slowly ramping up throwing after a month of rest, without a timetable for return.

  • Xander Bogaerts (hamstring): Sustained a hamstring injury on a swing in the July 4 game, will undertake imaging to determine the severity but expect a short-term absence.

St. Louis Cardinals

  • Nolan Arenado (jammed finger): Injury minor after leaving June 29 game.
