Fantasy Baseball Injury Updates: Tracking Returns of These 6 Stars

Aaron Judge - SIC score 92 - Right Hip Discomfort

The 2022 AL MVP will make his return to the lineup on Tuesday May 9 against the Oakland A’s. He was originally injured on an awkward slide into third base on April 26, then left the April 27 game after feeling discomfort on a swing. Judge returns with a high SIC score because his hip contusion should be fully healed.

José Altuve - SIC score 42 - Right thumb fracture

Altuve is nearing a rehab assignment as he continues to recover from his March 19 thumb fracture. Fortunately, the fracture was to the tip of his thumb, not the base.

The base would have required a longer recovery, but if all goes well Altuve should be back near the first week of June.

Jacob deGrom - SIC score 31 - Right elbow inflammation

The oft-injured star is scheduled to begin playing catch during the team’s current road trip. He’s eligible to return in mid-May, but the team will likely be cautious with easing him back into the rotation. Any return before the end of May would be great news.

Giancarlo Stanton - SIC score 34 - Left hamstring strain

Stanton suffered a left hamstring strain in mid-April and remains on the 10-day IL. Originally, he was projected to miss 4-6 weeks. He was spotted doing light training on May 3, but is still a bit away from resuming baseball activities, according to manager Aaron Boone.

Corey Seager - SIC score 54 - Left hamstring strain

Rangers’ shortstop Corey Seager will “probably” start a rehab assignment this week, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Seager suffered a Grade 2 left hamstring strain on a double April 11 and has been on the 10-day IL ever since.

He is hitting .359 with 1 home runs in 11 games this season.

Eloy Jiménez - SIC score 10 - Appendicitis

White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez underwent an appendectomy on Saturday (May 6) and will miss at least the next month.

The fact he was released from the hospital the same day is a great sign they caught his appendix before it burst and he should return closer to four weeks than six.

Jiménez is hitting .258 with 4 home runs in 25 games this season.
