Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Dylan Cease has been placed on the 15-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.
Cease suffered the injury during Sunday’s start against the Pittsburgh Pirates and exited the game in the fifth inning.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider described the injury as mild.
The 29-year-old is in his first season with Toronto after signing a seven-year, $210 million contract during the offseason. Cease has gone 3-3 with a 3.05 ERA this season.
Despite the injury, Cease has been one of baseball’s most durable starters in recent years. He has made at least 30 starts in each of the past five seasons, one of only four major league pitchers to accomplish that feat.
