Dodgers Injury Report: Clayton Kershaw Scheduled To Return From IL On Sunday

After another successful bullpen session, the Dodgers will activate star southpaw Clayton Kershaw ahead of this weekend's series against the Giants with the expectation that he will start Sunday's finale.

Clayton Kershaw Injury Update

Kershaw was placed on the 15-day IL with right SI joint inflammation on May 13, and his start will come on June 12.

The SI joint hinges a pelvic and lower back bone, and the pain could have manifested in the low back or hip. The 33-year-old has missed time sporadically over the past few years with other back injuries, and was shut down ahead of the 2021 playoffs with elbow inflammation.

Before he left for the IL Kershaw was one of the better pitchers in baseball, posting a 4-0 record with a 1.80 ERA and 32 strikeouts across 30 innings.

He provided one of the more incendiary talking points of the first month of the season when Dave Roberts pulled him seven innings into a perfect game bid on April 13.

Betting And Fantasy Impact

Kershaw has allowed one-or-fewer runs in four of his five starts this season and has a career ERA of 1.88 in 54 starts against the Giants. In 26 games at (the now named) Oracle Park Kershaw has been even more impressive, posting a 1.52 ERA and 0.826 WHIP with 165 strikeouts.
