Can Aaron Judge Return Early As A Designated Hitter?

As the Yankees approach a month without MVP Aaron Judge, the star slugger does not appear much closer to returning.

Our panel of Pro Baseball Docs have detailed why Judge’s right toe injury recovery has not been straightforward.

At this point, it appears the prediction of a return after the All-Star break is inevitable.

Since the injury is to his back foot and the power swing requires heavy involvement from the right big toe, Judge is unlikely to return as a designated hitter prior to returning to the outfield.

He has received two PRP injections in the injured right foot and those take time to take effect.

Recently, manager Aaron Boone did not guarantee that Judge would return this season.

The Pro Baseball Docs expect Judge back this season, but not until mid-to-late July at the earliest.

New York has gone 9-11 without Judge, who was injured when he made a running catch against the Dodgers on June 3.

Last year’s AL MVP has 19 home runs this season with a .291 average and 40 RBIs.
