Blue Jays Injury Report: Hyun Jin Ryu Lands On IL For Second Time This Season

The former Cy Young Winner was placed on the 15-day IL due to forearm inflammation for the second time this season. Earlier this season, Ryu missed a month due to left forearm inflammation and now with the second placement, the Pro Baseball Docs are concerned with his availability going forward.

The former KBO pitcher was scheduled for an MRI this morning after leaving his last start due to forearm tightness.

Forearm tightness and inflammation are basket terms that can encompass all sorts of ailments in the arm. The term is not specific but the worry is that the issue has not got better after an initial IL stay.

The manager of the Blue Jays, Charlie Montoya, stated that he believes the injury is “kind of the same thing he had last time” which doesn't bode well for his future availability. Our individual SIC score for Ryu is 23, fitting with the fears going forward.

The former Dodger has struggled this season posting a high ERA of 5.33 in just 27 innings.
