Update: Pro Baseball Docs Expecting Good News For Yordan Alvarez, Jeremy Peña After Scary Collision

Young Houston stars Yordan Alvarez and Jeremy Peña left the Astros' win on Wednesday after a collision in the 8th inning.

After reviewing the video, our team of Pro Baseball Docs do not expect either player to require an IL stint.

Alvarez was carted off after taking a shot from Peña's forearm to the face and was walking under his own power in the locker room after the game.

Peña reportedly suffered a mouth laceration, according to Justin Verlander. He initially appeared to be staying in the contest before the medical staff walked off the field with him.

Both players will likely undergo concussion evaluations.

Concussions are difficult to judge by video, but neither player appeared to take a significant blow to the head.

Dusty Baker didn't have any updates on either player and neither was made available for comment by orders of the medical and media relations staff, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle.

The 24-year-old shortstop recently returned from a 13-day absence after suffering a left thumb injury on June 13.

Alvarez, the every designated hitter, was playing in left field in place of Michael Brantley, who was placed on the 10-day IL Tuesday with right shoulder discomfort.

Baker did not answer when asked if Peña or Alvarez would fly home with the team.

Houston will play a make-up contest against the Yankees at home Thursday before beginning a three-game set vs. the Angels to open July.

Replying to @Chandler_Rome

Both Jeremy Peña and Yordan Alvarez are in the Astros clubhouse as the team readies to fly back to Houston. Reporters are not allowed to approach them, again, “by orders of the medical staff.” Dusty Baker didn’t answer whether they’d fly home with the team.
