2025 MLB Injury Report: Key Updates for Week 5

As we approach the end of April, the MLB injury landscape is rapidly shifting. From All-Stars being stretchered off the field to pitchers on the verge of returning from IL stints, here’s the latest team-by-team breakdown of key player injuries.

✅ Seattle Mariners

  • Logan Gilbert (SP): Exited the April 25 game against the Marlins with a mild Grade 1 right flexor strain after just three innings, he will likely miss several weeks as he has been shut down from throwing for two weeks.

✅ Texas Rangers

  • Corey Seager (SS): Corey Seager has been placed on the 10-day IL with a right hamstring strain. He exited Tuesday’s game vs. the A’s after pulling up running to first. Seager was hitting .286 with 4 HR and 6 RBIs, and leads the Rangers with 17 hits since April 8.

  • Kumar Rocker (SP): was placed on the 15-day IL on April 24 with a right shoulder impingement.

✅ Atlanta Braves

  • Spencer Strider (SP): S

    uffered a right hamstring strain while playing catch on April 21 and has been placed on the 15-day IL.

✅ Boston Red Sox

  • Brayan Bello (SP): Set to make his season debut on April 22 vs. the Mariners after recovering from right shoulder inflammation.

  • Kutter Crawford (SP): Will report to Fort Myers on April 22 to face live hitters and continue rehab from right patellar soreness. A return through extended Spring Training games is the next step.

  • Lucas Giolito (SP): Threw five innings in his fourth Minor League rehab start on April 20. May require one more outing before returning to the Red Sox rotation.

✅ San Diego Padres

  • Luis Arraez (2B): Stretchered off April 20 after an on-field collision. Transported to Houston Methodist Hospital. Placed on 7-day IL concussion protocol.

  • Jason Heyward (OF): Placed on 10-day IL (April 19) with left knee inflammation.

✅ Los Angeles Dodgers

  • Tyler Glasnow (SP): Left April 20 start due to lower leg cramps which is not expected to impact his availability for his next start.

  • Blake Treinen (RP): Diagnosed with a low-grade forearm sprain, rehabbing without surgery.

  • Blake Snell (SP): Dodgers manager Dave Roberts reported Snell "didn't feel great" after playing catch on April 22 and he will be shut down from throwing and may need more imaging on his left throwing shoulder.

✅ Philadelphia Phillies

  • Brandon Marsh (OF): 10-day IL with left hamstring strain (April 20).

  • Ranger Suárez (SP): Exited his April 22 with left forearm soreness, initial scans showed no structural damage.

✅ Miami Marlins

  • Griffin Conine (OF): Moved to 60-day IL with dislocated left shoulder (April 20).

✅ New York Mets

  • Jeff McNeil (INF): Continuing rehab for right oblique strain.

  • Francisco Alvarez (C): Out with fractured hamate bone, remains on rehab track.

✅ Boston Red Sox

  • Brayan Bello (SP): May return vs. Mariners (April 22–24).

  • Kutter Crawford (SP): Heads to Fort Myers April 22 to face live hitters.

  • Lucas Giolito (SP): Fourth rehab start on April 20; one more start likely before activation.

✅ Baltimore Orioles

  • Heston Kjerstad (OF): Day-to-day after HBP on right elbow. X-rays negative.

  • Grayson Rodriguez (SP): Undergoing further shoulder evaluation after elbow inflammation.

✅ New York Yankees

  • Ben Rice (C): Day-to-day with left elbow contusion after two HBPs.

  • DJ LeMahieu (INF): Rehab assignment may begin April 22.

  • Jonathan Loáisiga (RP): Third live BP session scheduled for April 20.

✅ Toronto Blue Jays

  • Nick Sandlin (RP): 15-day IL (April 20) with right lat strain.

  • Erik Swanson (RP): Threw simulated game April 19; rehab assignment could begin soon.

✅ Chicago White Sox

  • Chase Meidroth (INF): Undergoing imaging for right thumb inflammation.

  • Josh Lowe (OF): Progressing from oblique strain, hitting off tee soon.

  • Shane McClanahan (SP): May begin throwing week of April 21.

✅ Pittsburgh Pirates

  • Spencer Horwitz (INF): Resumed baseball activities; heading to extended Spring Training.

  • Colin Holderman (RP): Rehab assignment imminent.

  • Tim Mayza (RP): 15-day IL (April 19) with lat strain; further evaluation this week.

✅ Arizona Diamondbacks

  • Ketel Marte (2B): Running program underway; progressing well.

  • A.J. Puk (RP): 15-day IL (April 19) with elbow inflammation; imaging scheduled.

  • Kevin Ginkel (RP): Threw 21 pitches to live hitters.

✅ Washington Nationals

  • CJ Abrams (SS): Nearing return from hip flexor strain.

  • Michael Soroka (SP): Could begin rehab start this week after April 19 throwing session.
