As we head into Week 8 of the NFL season, teams are struggling with key injuries that may impact upcoming games. At SICscore.com, we provide expert insights from Dr. David Chao, MD (@ProFootballDoc) and other top sports doctors to help fans and analysts understand the impact of these injuries on the player and team.

QB Tua Tagovailoa - Miami Dolphins

Has cleared the NFL-mandated concussion protocol and will start Sunday’s game vs. the Cardinals, per his personal choice he will not wear a Guardian Cap.

QB Jayden Daniels - Washington Commanders

For a multitude of reasons, we don't expect Jayden Daniels to be available to play for Week 8, his rib cartilage injury can be extremely painful due to the mechanics of the injury, if he won't be effective, that could leave him susceptible to other injuries, he's a promising rookie but a week without practice isn't feasible, a matchup vs Caleb Williams isn't much of a concern to the Commanders, and Marcus Mariota is a capable quarterback against a non-divisional opponent, Daniels may miss time beyond this week as well

QB Aaron Rodgers - New York Jets

Currently managing through a trio of injuries from his hamstring, knee and ankle, he's been a limited participant in practice but that isn't expected to affect his availability for Week 8.

RB Alvin Kamara - New Orleans Saints

Signed an extension at the trading deadline locking him up for the Saints for the long haul, he's had a great start to the season, but as his offensive line has had some injuries, his production has been limited in addition to him playing with a hand injury, once the Saints get some of their OL back and healthy, he should resume being a highly productive back.

RB Travis Etienne Jr. - Jacksonville Jaguars

Head coach Doug Pederson stated Friday that Etienne will be a game-time decision with the hamstring injury he's been dealing with, he missed last week's game and there's a chance he'll have to sit for Week 8 as well.

RB Rhamondre Stevenson - New England Patriots

Returned to practice Thursday from a foot injury he had been managing, he missed on Wednesday but he is trending towards being available for Week 8 against the Jets.

WR Deebo Samuel Sr. - San Francisco 49ers

While head coach Kyle Shanahan is hopeful Samuel can be available this week, it is highly doubtful that he can recover from fluid in his lungs in less than a week to be available for Week 8 vs the Cowboys

WR D.K. Metcalf - Seattle Seahawks

Listed as Doubtful with the MCL sprain he sustained in last week's game, he was considered week-to-week but some missed time was expected.

WR Tee Higgins - Cincinatti Bengals

Sustained a quadriceps injury during Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Eagles, he will be monitored throughout the weekend.

TE Dawson Knox - Buffalo Bills

Returned to practice on Thursday after missing Wednesday, an encouraging sign that the ankle injury he's been managing might be well enough to enable him to play in Week 8, if he logs a full practice on Friday there's a high likelihood of him having no injury designation for Sunday.
