ProBaseballDocs: Worry That Manuel Margot's Knee Injury Is Season-Ending

Rays right fielder Manuel Margot left Monday night's loss to the Yankees after crashing into the wall trying to make a catch on an eventual go-ahead triple by Aaron Hicks.

Margot left on a cart after the play with what manager Kevin Cash described as a right knee sprain that may cause the outfielder to miss “significant time.”

Upon reviewing limited video angles, the Sports Injury Central panel of Pro Baseball Docs have significant worry for an ACL tear or associated ligament injury.

Margot was not injured during his collision with the wall, but instead when he landed awkwardly on his right leg.

He immediately went down in pain and did not move until he was carted off.

The 27-year-old, who leads the team in batting average at .302, will undergo an MRI Tuesday to determine the severity of the knee injury.

The hope is the MRI does not reveal damage to the ACL, but it is a distinct possibility and an ominous sign that Cash already expects to be without Margot for a significant stretch.

If the ACL tear is confirmed, Margot would miss the regular season and face an uphill battle to be ready for the start of next season.
