Jayron Kearse Injury: Knee Sprain Could Land Safety on IR

Cowboys starting strong safety Jayron Kearse left the Dallas locker room on crutches after Sunday night's game and could land on IR.

By video, Kearse appeared to suffer an MCL sprain with a possible bone bruise, according to the Pro Football Docs.

The injury mechanism did not appear to involve damage to his ACL, as Michael Gehlken reported.

Jayron Kearse Injury Update

The strong safety will likely be out a minimum of three weeks and could land on IR, knocking him out the next four games.

Kearse had 7 combined tackles before exiting late in the third quarter.

The 28 year old took a blow to the knee from Leighton Vander Esch and limped off the field.

He will undergo an MRI on Monday. If the MCL sprain is confirmed, Kearse could return for Week 5 against the Rams.

If Kearse has a bone bruise he will likely be out beyond four weeks.

Malik Hooker will likely start at strong safety in his absence.

The Cowboys face the Bengals at home next week and will have to do so without Dak Prescott.
