Daniel Jones - Achilles
Jones suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon during the 2025 NFL Week 14 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, effectively ending his season and casting uncertainty on his timeline for return in 2026.
From Pro Football Doc, What Daniel Jones has going for him is limited compared to what he has going against him—he’s getting older, the injury happened in December, and it’s his back foot, his plant foot. He also relies on running more than some quarterbacks. What works in his favor is that he is a quarterback; if this were a running back, wide receiver, or defensive back, it would be very tough to be ready for the start of next season. For Jones, I think he can be ready for the start of next season, though not guaranteed to be 100%, and he won’t be ready for the offseason program. He’s also a free agent, which complicates things. This injury likely increases the chances that a team like Indianapolis chooses to retain him.
De'Von Achane - Ribs
Achane left Sunday after suffering an apparent rib injury late in the second quarter. Achane was evaluated in the blue medical tent before walking gingerly to the locker room with trainers. He did not return.
From Pro Football Doc, based on the hit, the play, and the ancillary evidence, it’s likely a rib cartilage or intercostal muscle strain issue. He didn’t return to the game, and after the game the head coach said he could have, but the Dolphins were ahead comfortably by that point. Another reporter—whose name I don’t recall—said there were two small bandages, which to me suggests he likely received a rib block. It would make sense, as it would be two intercostal nerves because the muscle strain crosses the fracture area, and that’s probably what the bandages were for and why he was able to return to the game. This means he will likely be limited in practice. I don’t even know who they play next, but he should be able to go with gameday intercostal nerve blocks again next week.
Jayden Daniels - Elbow
Daniels appeared to reaggravate his left elbow dislocation. Pro Football Doc does not believe the injury worsened, but with the score, the commanders played it safe and kept him out for the remainder of the game.
From Pro Football Doc, we said in real time that we didn’t think there was a significant injury here. They removed the brace and checked him. Did the elbow hurt? Absolutely. Was it injured any further? I don’t think so. That’s why we believed he could have returned to the game, but given the score at the time—already 17–0 and rising—I think Washington knew that with nine losses, their playoff hopes were essentially a Hail Mary. Even though they weren’t mathematically eliminated from the division, they were already out of the wild-card race. They had already rolled the dice a bit by playing him, and at 17–0, it really wasn’t going to happen. After the game, Dan Quinn said he could have returned, but he chose not to let him go back in.
David Njoku - Knee
By video, Njoku likely suffered a left knee PCL sprain on TD catch and did not return. Pro Football Doc expects Njoku to miss multiple video games.
Zach Ertz - Knee
Ertz suffered a torn ACL when tackled in the air going for a ball. His season is over.
From Pro Football Doc, There’s been a report of an ACL injury, but it’s ACL plus—this is a multi-ligament injury. ACL, PCL, and something else. This is unfortunately the type of injury where you need to check nerve and artery involvement, and while the hope and assumption is that it’s fine, Zach Ertz is not playing again this year for sure. There’s ligament reconstruction surgery in his future. I don’t have his exact age in front of me, but is this a career-threatening injury? One hundred percent. Given his situation and what he’s accomplished, is it career-ending? I won’t say that for sure, but at the age of 35 and where he is in his career, it’s a tough road to be ready for next season, especially with a multi-ligament injury. So it is absolutely career-threatening.
Tyrod Taylor - Groin
Taylor suffered a groin injury and exited early in Sunday’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins. The team quickly ruled his return doubtful, forcing yet another unexpected shift under center in what has been an injury-plagued season for the Jets’ offense.
Geno Smith - Hand/Shoulder
Smith left Sunday’s game with a right hand injury, briefly returned, but exited again due to hand and shoulder issues. Kenny Pickett finished the game for the Raiders.
