Tonight, the New York Jets face off against the San Francisco 49ers in a highly anticipated primetime NFL matchup where Aaron Rodgers makes his return after suffering a season ending injury in Monday Night Football Week 1 2023.
As shown in the below Field View, the Jets start the season relatively healthy on both sides.
Rodgers tore his left Achilles just four plays into his Jets tenure. Pro Football Docs expect him to be fully ready for training camp with no restrictions. He did not participate in team minicamp, which head coach Robert Saleh explicitly deemed an "unexcused absence." There is no concern over the blister scare he dealt with during OTA’s. Despite not playing in any of the Jets preseason games, Rodgers will be ready for Week 1 and is expected to have recovered fully from the Achilles tear a season ago.
As shown in the below Field View, the 49ers Defense is where the health mismatch stands out, but questions remain on the health of star running back Christian McCaffrey.
Ruled out of Week 1 matchup due to calf/achilles injury, clearly saving him for the rest of the season as the 49ers don't want him to re-aggravate injury and make it worse, would be lacking in burst and cutting ability which is why he is sitting, reportedly big chance he is out for Week 2 as well
New York Jets +4.5
