NFL Training Camp Injuries 7/27: Analysis From Our Panel of Doctors

With training camps underway, there has been an unfortunate influx of injuries to key names on Thursday. Here we breakdown the latest analysis from our panel of doctors and when to expect each player back. For the latest injury analysis, head to our insights page here.

Joe Burrow - SIC score 77

The Bengals quarterback avoided the worst case scenario of an Achilles tear, but he will still miss significant time in training camp with a right calf strain. The grade has yet to be determined but calf injuries tend to linger and it could affect his mobility in Week 1. This will mark the fourth straight preseason that Joe Burrow misses time. He underwent an appendectomy one year ago yesterday.

  • 2020: COVID, no games

  • 2021: Returning from ACL, 3 snaps

  • 2022: Appendix rupture, no action

  • 2023: Calf strain,

Garrett Wilson - SIC score 69

Aaron Rodgers new top target suffered an inversion right ankle sprain – likely a moderate grade – after an incompletion during practice. He tested the ankle before limping off with a trainer and did not return.

Wilson will likely miss at least a week and his return timeline will depend on how cautious the Jets want to be with the young wideout. The good news is the ankle issue is unlikely to bleed into the regular season

Jalen Ramsey - SIC score 33

Ramsey’s injury is the most concerning of the bunch, but there was no video immediately available. The former Rams cornerback was reportedly carted off with a left knee injury he suffered in a collision while covering Tyreek Hill.

He will reportedly undergo surgery on his meniscus and is at risk of missing Week 1. If he undergoes a trim, his timeline could be closer to four weeks. If he undergoes a repair, he would likely miss a majority, if not all, of the season.

Jalen Ramsey got rolled up on breaking up a pass and limped off the field. Trainers checked on his left knee on the sideline. Cart came to give him a ride back into the facility.
