As Divisional Round wrapped up Sunday and we look towards the Conference Championships of the 2024 NFL season, several players suffered injuries which will impact their performance this week.
At SICscore.com, we provide expert insights from Dr. David Chao, MD (@ProFootballDoc) and other top sports doctors to help fans and analysts understand the impact of these injuries on the player and team.
Jalen Hurts went down awkwardly on a sack during the Divisional Round game against the Rams and by limited video sustained a left knee contusion which limited his mobility. He may have bursitis on his left knee or possibly a small meniscus tear however he will play in the Conference Championship game this week with limitations on his dynamic movement.
Quinyon Mitchell suffered a shoulder injury and did not return after a hard hit on Matt Stafford. By video we think he may have a minor AC joint injury and will have scans to ensure no structural damage. If no structural damage he may need to manage the pain to play this week.
Head coach Dan Quinn has said MRI results officially confirm that Sam Cosmi has a torn ACL in his right knee and will be out for the remainder of the playoffs, Cosmi was rolled up on and bent back awkwardly during the first half Saturday, and he underwent an MRI on Sunday morning, he will now likely undergo surgery to repair the torn ACL in his right knee, which could impact his availability for the start of the 2025 regular season.
Taylor Rapp exited the Bills' divisional-round win over the Ravens due to a hip injury, head coach Sean McDermott said Rapp is considered day-to-day and has a chance to play vs the Chiefs in the AFC Conference Championship on Sunday.
Christian Benford was placed in the league's concussion protocol after the divisional-round win over the Ravens, increasing his chances of missing the AFC Championship vs the Chiefs, he will continue to be monitored.
