Update: McCaffrey missed practice for a second straight day Thursday, a troubling sign for his effectiveness on Sunday.
Carolina Panthers star running back Christian McCaffrey missed practice Wednesday and was listed on the injury report with “thigh.”
Few details about his thigh issue were immediately available, but head coach Matt Rhule had this to say after practice.
McCaffrey's status is of course worth monitoring this week. The Pro Football Docs are not optimistic about his chances to play effectively Sunday against Arizona.
Based on a video review of Sunday's game, McCaffrey did not appear to suffer a quad strain, according to the Pro Football Docs.
However, any injury to the quad can affect a running backs ability to burst.
Wednesday is McCaffrey's typical rest day, but it's noteworthy he was listed with “thigh” instead of rest.
He was limited in practice last week with ankle stiffness but played without limitations in the win over the Saints.
The Stanford alumnus had 25 rushes for 108 yards plus 2 catches for 7 yards.
The Panthers are favored by 1.5 points at home against the Cardinals and the over/under is 42.5 points, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Christian McCaffrey has a thigh injury and didn't practice Wednesday. He normally takes Wed. off but also "has a quad he's dealing with," Matt Rhule said.
