Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins left Sunday’s game after hitting the back of his head hard on the artificial turf while attempting to secure a catch, immediately drawing medical attention from the sideline staff. Higgins appeared dazed as trainers evaluated him, and he was quickly ruled out with a concussion.
This is not Higgins’ first experience with a head injury. He sustained a documented concussion in 2022 during a matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers, exiting after a significant hit and missing the remainder of that game. He later missed additional time that season due to concussion-related symptoms, raising long-term concerns about cumulative head trauma for the star receiver. Given his history, the Bengals’ medical staff will likely proceed with caution as Higgins enters the league’s concussion protocol.
With Cincinnati’s offense already navigating injuries, Higgins’ absence creates another obstacle as the team relies heavily on his size, separation ability, and red-zone presence. His recovery timeline will depend on how he progresses through each step of the protocol, but multiple past concussions typically prompt a more conservative approach. The Bengals will hope for a quick but safe return as Higgins continues to be a cornerstone of their passing attack.
