UAB junior running back DeWayne McBride led the NCAA in rushing this season with 1,713 yards. The 5-foot-11, 215-pound running back made bringing him to the ground nearly impossible.
But on Monday, McBride was reported to be sitting out combine drills after he suffered a hamstring strain training but is expected to “do everything” during his March 22nd pro day.
According to the Pro Football Docs, McBride’s draft stock won’t fall if he performs well on his pro day. He will have time for the hamstring to heal and should be a full go at his pro day.
On Nov. 26, 2021 McBride suffered an ankle sprain that caused him to miss the last three weeks of the regular season. He returned for UAB’s bowl game and had 28 carries for 183 yards while scoring a touchdown.
McBride missed week one of this season with an unspecified injury but returned the next week and played the rest of the season.
McBride’s stats in 2021: 13 games, 204 rushes, 1,371 yards, 13 TDs, 6.7 avg.
McBride’s stats in 2022: 12 games, 233 rushes, 1,713 yards, 19 TD, 7.4 avg.
