Why A Healthy Amari Cooper Will Flourish in His New Environment

Amari Cooper - SIC Score 92

The Alabama alum has been a solid WR1 in the NFL for many years now, entering his 8th season and first as a Cleveland Brown. Cooper has a much to prove on his new team coming over from Dallas where he had one of his worst statistical seasons of his career.

The former Raider has only missed five games in his entire career (two coming in 2021), which is impressive in this day and age. He suffered a hamstring strain Week 4 which caused him to miss one drive of the game, but he didn’t miss any games following the injury. Later in the season, he tweaked the same hamstring Week 8, however once again he didn’t miss anytime due to injury.

The elite route runner did miss two games in the season as he was placed on the COVID-19 list, but soon returned and played the final six games of the season.

Cooper has now played for three NFL teams, finding himself as the WR1 in Cleveland which should hopefully be a positive thing for him moving forward. In Dallas, Cooper competed with stud wideouts like CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and more. In Cleveland, his competition is an unproven cast of WRs where Cooper should standout and produce on a consistent basis.

Fantasy Implications

While Cooper will likely see tighter coverage from CB1s on opposing defenses, the savvy route running veteran shouldn’t have much of an issue getting valuable targets in this Cleveland offense.

Cooper has a clean bill of health coming into 2022 with a Sic Score of 92 as our panel of Pro Football Docs believe that there’s physically no reason he won't be successful in Cleveland.

The one issue hanging over his new team is the QB situation with most of the fantasy community awaiting the news of the impending Deshaun Watson suspension. Cooper has been a durable player that plays thru injury issues, but is rapidly approaching 30 years of age.
