Tristan Wirfs Injury: Buccaneers RT Leaves With Ankle Sprain

Update: Wirfs' X-rays were reportedly negative for a fracture, a good sign that his season is not done. He will get an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his ankle sprain.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers right tackle Tristan Wirfs left in overtime with a severe-looking left leg injury after he was landed on by a defender.

By video, Wirfs appeared to suffer a high ankle injury with a possible associated fracture, according to the Pro Football Docs.

Wirfs was pass blocking when Browns linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah jumped in the air and was thrown down on Wirfs' left leg.

The third-year tackle was carted off the field and will likely undergo an X-ray right away. Even if that X-ray rules out a fracture, Wirfs could land on IR with his high ankle sprain.

Josh Wells will likely take his place at right tackle.

Wirfs suffered a right high ankle sprain in the playoffs last year and was inactive for Tampa Bay's loss the next week to the Rams.

Tampa Bay (5-6) face the Saints in Florida on Monday night next week.
