DJ Reader returned to a full padded practice on Wednesday, September 4th and has been running with the first team defense in drills, according to head coach Dan Campbell ‘There’s a chance' he'll be able to play Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers .

DJ Reader is currently on the Lions' PUP list, actively rehabbing from a torn right quadriceps tendon suffered in Week 14 while playing for Cincinnati. This is his second quadriceps tear, having previously suffered one in his left leg in 2020. He has experienced no setbacks in his offseason rehab but is still expected to miss the start of the season.
