Free agent tight end Zach Ertz intends to play in 2026 after suffering a torn ACL in Week 14 last season. According to reports, Ertz is expected to be medically cleared around Week 1.
Ertz, who spent last season with the Washington Commanders, remains unsigned and is currently unable to pass a physical. That situation makes a late signing closer to the start of the season the most likely scenario.
Pro Football Doc, Dr. David Chao, noted that while Ertz has expressed confidence he will be ready by Week 1, returning from a late-season ACL tear presents a challenging timeline. If he does return, it would mark the 14th season of his NFL career.
