Update - Xavier Worthy returned late in the first half.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy exited today’s game in the first half after taking a hit that prompted a sideline head evaluation. After being checked by medical staff, Worthy was sent to the locker room for further concussion assessment. Based on video review and the sequence of events, ProFootballDoc believes Worthy is unlikely to return to today’s game, though no official ruling had been announced at the time of his departure.
Worthy left the field following a fall to the ground where his head hit the turf, then a subsequent hit from a defender, drawing immediate attention from trainers. While he was initially evaluated on the sideline, the decision to send him to the locker room suggests the team wanted a more thorough evaluation, a common step when head-related symptoms cannot be fully assessed on the field.
From an injury-history standpoint, Worthy does not have a significant documented concussion history at the NFL level. He has previously been evaluated for head-related concerns without a confirmed diagnosis, and teams typically proceed with caution in those situations, particularly with skill-position players who rely heavily on speed and awareness.
For now, Worthy’s status remains uncertain beyond today’s game. Further clarity is expected after additional testing and postgame updates from the team, which will help determine whether this was a precautionary removal or an issue that could impact his availability going forward. In Week 16 the Chiefs play Sunday against the Titans.
