Wisconsin Injury update: What will the Badgers do at quarterback?

On Tuesday, the Wisconsin Badgers will face the Oklahoma State Cowboys at 10:15 p.m. in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl. This will be the first game this season between the two squads. The Badgers are having a down year going 6-6. To make matters worse, the team will be without a couple of key players.

Three-year starter Graham Mertz has entered the transfer portal. He led the team this year with 2,136 passing yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He has the 82nd QBR (52.5) in the nation this season.

Chase Wolf, who has attempted six passes this season, has a chance to start in place of Mertz. But Myles Burkett, who has attempted five passes this season, also has an opportunity to start for the Badgers.

The Badgers also have a new coach ready to see the field for the first time this game. Luke Fickell has led a College Football Playoff team while coaching Cincinnati. But his signing might have caused some more opt-outs.

Around six Wisconsin players have decided to opt-out of the bowl game. Star linebacker Nick Herbig, who had 11 sacks this season, is one of the players the Badgers will miss this weekend. Nose tackle  Keeanu Benton, who had 10 tackles for loss, has opted out to enter the NFL Draft.
