Aaron Rodgers did not commit to either retiring or returning for the 2026 season during a recent appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” leaving his future unresolved as he prepares to become a free agent next week.
Rodgers, 42, played through a fractured left wrist he sustained in Week 11 vs. the Bengals, missing one game before returning in Week 13. Despite the injury, he threw six touchdowns and no interceptions over his final six games of the regular season.
“I'm trying to stay fit. It's harder when you get older, so you can't take the same amount of time off as you used to,” Rodgers told McAfee. “Now at 42, just to stay in shape, you’ve got to always be dialed in on the diet and sleep and workouts if you want to look the right way.”
The wrist injury is expected to be fully healed with no lingering effects next season.
Beyond health and age considerations, Rodgers also addressed the Steelers’ new leadership under head coach Mike McCarthy. He was complimentary of the hire and acknowledged that the possibility of reuniting with McCarthy and other former Packers coaches is intriguing as he weighs his next move.
