Who Has Better Chance to Play Effectively Through Injury in Game 2?

Jimmy Butler - Right Ankle Sprain - SIC score 78

The Miami Heat are in Round 2 because of “playoff” Jimmy Butler. After rolling his right ankle in the first game of the series against the Knicks, his status for Game 2 is up in the air.

Given that his ankle had residual laxity from previous sprains, Butler has a chance to play effectively in Game 2. However, he will not have the same ability to slide on defense and stay in front of ball handlers.

That may diminish his role on defense until he is 100% effective on the ankle.

If the team chooses to sit him for Game 2, he will have a few extra days rest until Game 3 on Saturday. Depending on his level of swelling Tuesday, that could be the best choice for his effectiveness in the series.

Julius Randle - Left Ankle Sprain - SIC score 84

The Knicks star forward missed Game 1 after reaggravating his left ankle sprain in last Wednesday’s Game 5 win over the Cavaliers.

Given that Randle has had nearly a full week of rest and is dealing with a minor reaggravation, by video, the Pro Basketball Docs expect he will play effectively in his return to the court.

He is officially listed as questionable, but the Pro Basketball Docs expect he will suit up and play full minutes barring a setback.

Randle averaged 14.8 points in the series against the Cavs on 33.8% shooting, despite averaging a career-high 25.1 points on 46% shooting during the regular season.

He should surpass last series’ average in a better matchup and with his ankle closer to full health.

Heat vs. Knicks Game 2 Odds

The Knicks are favored by 6.5 points at home in Game 2 and the over/under is 207, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Trailing 1-0 in the series, the Knicks are +126 to win the series, while the Heat are -152.
