As the NFL kicks off Week 1, several star players are dealing with injuries that could impact both real-life outcomes and fantasy football lineups. Pro Football Doc, Dr. David Chao breaks down the latest updates and what to expect.

De’Von Achane, RB, Dolphins

Achane continues to be limited with a calf injury, which Pro Football Doc warns can linger and worsen if not fully healed. “I don’t see him playing or being effective in Week 1,” Chao said, though he noted it’s a positive sign that Achane is not on injured reserve. (Achane was a full participant on Friday and does not have a designation for Week 1.)

Jayden Reed, WR, Packers

Reed is recovering from a Jones fracture of the fifth metatarsal and is still likely “a little ways away” from being game-ready. Expect the Packers to ease him back as he works toward full participation. (Reed is listed as questionable for Week 1)

Stefon Diggs, WR, Patriots

Diggs is expected to play Week 1, but Chao cautions he is “unlikely to be close to himself or 100%” as he continues to work his way back from last season’s ACL tear. Fantasy managers should temper expectations early in the season.

Matthew Stafford, QB, Rams

Stafford received an epidural injection for a herniated disc in his back and is cleared to play. However, Chao warns that “he’s good until he’s not good,” as nerve issues can flare up at any time.

Micah Parsons, LB, Cowboys

Parsons also had an epidural, but for a less severe facet joint issue. Chao considers his situation “more manageable and predictable” and expects little to no impact on Parsons’ 2025 season. (Parsons is listed as questionable for Week 1)

Chris Godwin, WR, Buccaneers

Godwin has yet to fully recover from last season’s ankle injury, and Tampa Bay will be without Jalen McMillan as well, leaving opportunities for other Buccaneers receivers to step up early.

Tyreek Hill, WR, Dolphins

Hill is managing both an oblique and wrist issue but is expected to play through them in Week 1. (Hill was a full participant on Friday and does not have a designation for Week 1.)
