Von Miller's Surgery Reveals ACL Tear, Out For Season

Buffalo Bills star pass rusher Von Miller is out for the season after surgery revealed a torn ACL in his right knee.

Miller was reportedly undergoing surgery to fix a bucket handle lateral meniscus tear and clean out cartilage damage when the ACL tear was found. It did not show up on previous MRI and other images.

By video, the Pro Football Docs had significant worry for an ACL tear, as detailed on Thanksgiving.

There was initial hope the 33 year old avoided the dreaded ACL tear, possibly due to laxity from his 2013 ACL repair, but the pass rusher becomes the second key Bills defender to tear an ACL on Thanksgiving.

No. 1 cornerback Tre'Davious White suffered a torn ACL on Thanksgiving in 2021 and is still making his way back to 100%.

Miller's recovery will stretch well into 2023 and it would be great news to see him return to the field before December.

When he does return, he will likely be exclusively on the left side of the defensive line to give him a healthy outside leg.

Miller signed a 6-year, $120 million contract with the Bills this offseason. He had $45 million guaranteed at signing, with his base salary increasing from $1.1 million to $17.1 million in 2024.

Buffalo Bills Super Bowl LVII Odds

Despite Miller's injury, the Bills are still favorites to win Super Bowl LVII at +370, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.

Buffalo faces the Jets in Week 14 and are favored by 9.5 points at home. The over/under is 43.5.
