JJ McCarthy – QB, Minnesota Vikings

Rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy sustained a minor high ankle sprain and is considered week-to-week. Head coach Kevin O’Connell stated that the team is not currently planning to place McCarthy on short-term IR, suggesting optimism for just a short break. After a poor performance in Week 2 and the Vikings suffering several key offensive line injuries, the team may also be taking the opportunity to give their QB a rest and give veteran QB Carson Wentz a start. Depending on the severity and style of quarterback, high-ankle sprain's can be played through with pain management however the Vikings have decided to rest McCarthy. For fantasy managers, prepare for a potential McCarthy absence of several games, he is considered week-to-week and will continue to be monitored.

Aaron Jones – RB, Minnesota Vikings

Veteran running back Aaron Jones sustained a hamstring injury in Week 2 against the Falcons and remains under evaluation. The Vikings officially placed Jones on the IR, he will miss at least the next four games for Minnesota.

Ryan Kelly (C) & Justin Skule (LT) – Concussion Protocol

Both center Ryan Kelly and backup left tackle Justin Skule are in the concussion protocol, leaving the Vikings’ offensive line thin heading into Week 3. Their status will depend on clearing each step of the protocol before game day.

Blake Cashman – LB, Minnesota Vikings

Linebacker Blake Cashman has been placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury, sidelining him for at least the next four games.

Andrew Van Ginkel – LB, Minnesota Vikings

Van Ginkel missed Week 2 due to a concussion, and his availability for Week 3 will depend on clearing the league’s protocol in time.

Christian Darrisaw – LT, Minnesota Vikings

Left tackle Christian Darrisaw has yet to make his season debut as he continues to recover from the season-ending ACL and MCL injury suffered last year. His return would provide a major boost to the offensive line, but there is still no firm timetable.
