UCLA will be tasked with trying to stop a USC offense that has Heisman candidate Caleb Williams. They also expect the return of receivers Mario Williams and Jordan Addison.
Defensive back Devin Kirkwood would be tasked with that challenge. But he’s been injured since the team's game against Arizona State. Without Kirkwood, UCLA has given up 349 passing yards and 26 second-half points against Arizona State. Furthermore, they gave 315 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero interceptions against Arizona.
Head coach Chip Kelly talked to the media on Wednesday about Kirkwood.
“Devin's ... uh, we'll see what he can do today,” Kelly said. “But um, we'll just check his availability today.
Also, defensive coordinator, Bill McGovern has been battling an illness the last couple of weeks, and he wasn’t at practice yesterday. The team has been utilizing three separate coaches in his absence.
Lastly, linebacker Bo Calvert is set to return this week after playing in limited snaps versus Arizona. His coach said that he was ready to return to practice on Wednesday.
USC is favored by 2.5 points on the road against UCLA, and the over/under is 75.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
