Giants running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. left Sunday’s game against the Texans with a left hamstring injury. Broadcast cameras caught Tracy on the sideline walking the leg out, visibly favoring the left hamstring as he tried to loosen it up. The Giants have not announced a diagnosis or a return status. New York led 14-6 late in the second quarter.

Hamstring strains are common for running backs because of the sprinting and explosive cuts the position requires, and the severity is graded. A mild Grade 1 strain may only cost a game or two, while a Grade 2 partial tear can mean several weeks. Walking it out on the sideline can be a sign that the team is testing whether he can return, but visibly favoring the leg suggests the injury is more than just tightness. The Giants have a bye next week, with their next game on November 8 at Philadelphia, which gives Tracy extra time to recover if the injury is on the milder end.

Tracy has no documented hamstring injury, which makes this a new type of issue, though his lower-body history is notable. In August of his 2024 rookie year, he was carted off at practice after a non-contact injury on a kickoff return drill, had his lower leg placed in an air cast, and was taken to the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan before being diagnosed with a Grade 2 low ankle sprain, returning to practice within a week. In December 2025 against the Patriots, he was helped off in the fourth quarter after a hard hit and was unable to put much weight on his left leg, an injury that was reported as a hip issue before he was cleared to play in Week 15. He also appeared on the injury report with an ankle issue in Week 17 last season and a knee issue in late September this year, when he also had the flu.

Tracy has been in a backup role to Cam Skattebo this season, with Devin Singletary taking over backup duties when Tracy is out, so New York would likely lean on its other backs if he cannot return. The key signals are the team’s halftime update, whether Tracy is seen testing the leg in warmups before the second half, and his practice status after the bye.
