Miami Dolphins wideout Tyreek Hill was carted off in the second half of Monday Night Football after suffering a gruesome injury to his left knee. By video review worry for a left knee dislocation, raising immediate concern for multi-ligament damage. Undoubtedly, ending his season.
The most urgent concern is for Hill’s overall health. A knee dislocation is a genuine orthopedic emergency as there is major concern for the perineal nerve and the popliteal artery. Injuries there could lead an aneurysm or cut of circulation. He has been taken to the hospital for imaging and observation as is required when knee dislocations stretch the way Hill’s did, he incurred a true orthopedic emergency.
This is a career-threatening injury, but hopefully not a career-ending. Players like Jalen Smith have sustained similar injuries in their careers.
He underwent a minor left knee procedure in 2024, but there is no record of prior major ligament tears in the joint. Most of his past absences have stemmed from hamstring and ankle strains. He also managed a significant wrist injury in 2025 that required offseason surgery. This is his first major left knee concern of this magnitude.
A multi-ligament knee injury typically sidelines players for 9–12 months and can threaten long-term explosiveness. Given Hill’s speed-dependent play style, this is a particularly devastating injury if the early fears are confirmed. Expect the Dolphins to send Hill for an MRI to determine surgical timing.
