Two Rookies to Miss Time With Ankle Sprains

Scoot Henderson - SIC score 31

Portland Trailblazers rookie Scoot Henderson exited Wednesday's game after sustaining a right ankle injury is a collision with Detroit's Killian Hayes.

By video, Henderson appeared to suffer a right high ankle sprain when Hayes collided with his leg while diving for the ball.

The typical recovery timeline for Henderson's high ankle sprain is 2 weeks, but pain and swelling could easily linger past that mark.

Henderson averaged 8.8 points on 34.6% shooting from the field with 4.6 assists in his first 5 games.

His absence likely means more action for second-year guard Shaedon Sharpe.

Amen Thompson - SIC score 22

Fellow rookie Amen Thompson also suffered a right ankle injury on Wednesday. Thompson's ankle injury is reportedly a grade 2 sprain, which carries a recovery timeline of 2-4 weeks.

Thompson was injured on a steal attempt when he stepped on a Hornets' player's shoe and twisted his right ankle.

He had a left ankle sprain in Summer League, but this injury is to the opposite side.

Thompson averaged 6.2 points on 40.9% shooting, plus 2.8 rebounds in his first 4 NBA games.
