Jacksonville Jaguars two-way standout Travis Hunter has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a non-contact knee injury during practice on Wednesday, head coach Liam Cohen announced. Hunter will miss a minimum of four games.
“We’re still evaluating it,” Cohen said when asked if Hunter could return this season.
The injury comes just as the rookie was hitting his stride. Hunter was coming off the best offensive performance of his NFL career, recording eight receptions for 101 yards and a touchdown in Jacksonville’s loss to the Rams in Week 7.
In his debut season playing both ways, Hunter has become one of the league’s most unique contributors. He has 28 receptions for 298 yards and a touchdown on offense, while adding 15 tackles and four pass deflections on defense.
Hunter’s absence is expected to be a significant blow for Jacksonville as it navigates the second half of the season without one of its most dynamic playmakers.
